First glance: Breaking down Arkansas
By Sam Khan Jr.
Campus location: Fayetteville, Ark.
Record vs. Texas A&M: 41-24-3
Last week: The Razorbacks lost their third straight game, 35-26, to Rutgers. After starting the season ranked in the top 10, the Razorbacks have come tumbling down with losses to Louisiana-Monroe, no. 1 Alabama and Rutgers. The Razorback defense yielded 397 passing yards to Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova in the loss.
Key player: Senior quarterback Tyler Wilson returned to the field last week after missing the Alabama loss with a concussion. He went 20-of-39 passing for 419 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. For the year, Wilson has thrown for 982 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 58.1 percent of his passes.
Why Arkansas might win: Because they're desperate. The Razorbacks are cornered and fighting for their season and they have a history of success against Texas A&M, having won each of the last three battles.
Why Arkansas might lose: Because they're in disarray. It appears as if nothing has gone right for them under new coach John L. Smith, who took the post after Bobby Petrino was fired in the wake of a scandal involving an affair with a female athletic department staff member who he hired. The team didn't appear to have much fight in the loss to Alabama and if they are struggling to win at home -- where they've been the last three games -- it will be an even tougher chore winning at Kyle Field against an Aggie team growing with confidence.
