Helmet stickers: Week 4

By Sam Khan Jr.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M rolled to a 42-13 win against SMU on Saturday at Kyle Field to improve to 3-1 on the season. Let's hand out some helmet stickers:

Johnny Manziel: The sophomore quarterback was 14-of-21 passing for 244 yards and a touchdown and ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. He led the team in rushing for the game and threw an interception, though it wasn't his fault (the ball went through the hands of a receiver). Saturday marked the ninth time that he has thrown for 200 yards and recorded a passing touchdown and rushing touchdown in a game, the most of any FBS player since the start of last season.

Deshazor Everett: The junior made the move to safety and played well, picking up seven tackles and a 12-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Defensive back Toney Hurd Jr. gets a big-time assist on that play for forcing the fumble with a big hit. Defensive coordinator Mark Snyder praised Everett publicly after the game for his unselfishness in making the move.

A&M offensive line: Though there were a few first-half mistakes, the unit did not allow Manziel to get sacked and paved the way for 581 total offensive yards. The amount of time Manziel was given to operate made it hard for SMU to defend him, whether he threw the ball or kept it and ran.
