It has been a long, winding recruiting road for ESPN 150 athlete and new Texas A&M commitment Ricky Seals-Jones. Here's a glance at how his recruitment developed from the day he originally committed to Texas through Monday's commitment to Texas A&M and what follows:
Feb. 22: Ricky Seals-Jones verbally commits to Texas. He attended the Longhorns' junior day on Feb. 12.
June 5: Seals-Jones decommits from Texas, just days after attending the Longhorns' first summer camp.
June 13: Unofficial visit to Texas A&M.
June 14: Unofficial visit to Texas. The Longhorns coaching staff was to be in San Angelo, Texas, for a clinic but changed its plans to accommodate Seals-Jones.
Aug. 15: After a summer spent playing AAU basketball, Seals-Jones says that he's taking a pause on recruiting and won't be making a decision soon. “I’m just laying low and focusing on my high school career," he said. That’s about it. [Recruiting] is on the side. I’m taking a timeout on it.”
Sept. 6: In Sealy's second game of the season, a nationally televised contest on ESPNU vs. Houston St. Pius X, Texas A&M makes a statement as coach Kevin Sumlin and recruiting coordinator Clarence McKinney arrive in a maroon helicopter to see Seals-Jones and Texas A&M quarterback commitment Kohl Stewart. That night, Seals-Jones dislocates his left kneecap in the third quarter.
Sept. 12: Texas drops out of the Seals-Jones race as news breaks that the Longhorns are no longer actively recruiting him.
Sept. 14: Seals-Jones comments publicly for the first time since the news about Texas broke. He says he has narrowed his choices to LSU and Texas A&M.
Oct. 20: Seals-Jones and his family make an unofficial visit to Texas A&M to watch the Aggies play LSU.
Oct. 26: Seals-Jones plays his first game for Sealy since dislocating his knee. He catches a touchdown pass and returns an interception for a touchdown but sprains his ankle in the second quarter and sits out the remainder of the game. He dons maroon-and-white Adidas Texas A&M gloves during the game.
Nov. 3: Seals-Jones and his family head to Baton Rouge, La., to see LSU host Alabama.
Nov. 9: Seals-Jones plays his final high school football game for Sealy, a 27-17 loss to rival Bellville (Texas) High School. Again, he wears the Texas A&M gloves, this time only for a half.
Nov. 19: Seals-Jones receives his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey and says he is planning to take official visits to both LSU and Texas A&M. He also says he'll take an unofficial visit to Texas A&M for its season finale.
Nov. 24: Seals-Jones and his family return to College Station, Texas, as he makes an unofficial visit to see the Aggies host Missouri in their regular season finale.
Nov. 26: LSU special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey, who has been recruiting Seals-Jones for the Tigers, makes an in-home visit.
Nov. 29: Texas A&M recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Clarence McKinney, who has been recruiting Seals-Jones for the Aggies, makes an in-home visit.
Nov. 30: Seals-Jones says he has scheduled his official visit to Texas A&M for Jan. 11. He has not scheduled an official visit to LSU.
Dec. 6: Seals-Jones sets his announcement date.
Dec. 10: Seals-Jones commits to Texas A&M. He indicates he will not take an official visit to LSU.
Jan. 5: Seals-Jones is scheduled to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Jan. 11: Seals-Jones is scheduled to make his official visit to Texas A&M.
