HOOVER, Ala. -- The media circus convened inside the Wynfrey Hotel early Wednesday morning, yet the Alabama contingent was nowhere to be found. It's a rare sight at SEC media days to see such a large cluster awaiting anyone not named Nick Saban.

But this was different. This was Johnny Football.

With a "SportsCenter" slot scheduled for a little after 8 a.m. Central time, Johnny Manziel, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and attention-grabbing lightning rod, strolled up to the set around 8:05 with a water bottle in hand. His stride never wavered and his head stayed high as he beelined through a throng of thirsty media members and toward the "SportsCenter" set nestled in the back of the second-floor lobby area. Manziel looked relaxed, taking the occasional sip of water, but would later admit to a reporter during his morning tour that he was pretty nervous walking in.

But once ESPN's Joe Tessitore shouted "Good morning" to Manziel and asked him if anything was going on, Manziel calmly replied, "Not a thing. Just another day."

With that, Manziel, who entered the day blanketed in off-field controversy, was ready for the circus.

Immediately, Tessitore fired off a question about Manziel's early exit from the 2013 Manning Passing Academy over the weekend.
