Scouts: DT Washington explosive

March, 2, 2013
The scouts team at ESPN took a close look at the video of Nederland (Texas) High School defensive tackle DeShawn Washington, who committed to Texas A&M on Saturday evening after the completion of its second junior day.

Washington had offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Baylor, among others. Here's a sampling of our scouts' take on why Washington is a coveted prospect:

"Washington moves around the D-Line in high school, but at the next level will be more an interior player. He possesses good size at this stage with room to still add some more needed bulk. He can be an active and physical player who displays good explosiveness off the ball. He demonstrates the ability to fire out low with hip roll on contact and can generate good power from his lower body and put a blocker on his heels. He flashes good upper body strength and with his aggressive nature he can push blockers aside."
