Aggies receive votes in preseason poll

August, 2, 2012
The preseason USA Today Coaches' Poll was released Thursday morning and there is heavy SEC presence up and down the rankings, including those that didn't make the top 25.

Texas A&M received votes in the poll, essentially coming in at No. 30 in the rankings. The Aggies are one of 11 SEC teams to either be in the top 25 or receive votes.

Naturally, that means Texas A&M's schedule is loaded with ranked teams. Five of the Aggies' opponents are in the top 25: LSU (1), Alabama (2), Arkansas (10), Florida (23) and Auburn (25). If you include teams receiving votes, that total goes up to eight opponents in the poll as Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech and Missouri all received votes.

Seven total SEC teams made the top 25, including five in the top 10: LSU, Alabama, Georgia (6), South Carolina (9) and Arkansas.

The Aggies are one of six teams in the state of Texas to either be ranked or receive votes. Texas (15), TCU (17) made the top 25, while Baylor, Houston and Texas Tech received votes.
