Lufkin WR Jamal Jeffery talks A&M offer

BRYAN, Texas -- Lufkin (Texas) High School wide receiver Jamal Jeffery has heard from several college programs. But when one of them decided to extend a scholarship offer, it took him a little by surprise.

Regardless, the 5-foot-8, 165-pound 2014 prospect was pleased to receive an offer from Texas A&M.

"I was happy," he said. "And I know that's my dad's favorite school, so that's a plus."

Jeffery didn't get to contribute to his team's recent 47-7 win over Bryan (Texas) High School, sitting the game out with an injury suffered the week before in a game against The Woodlands (Texas) High School, but he'll return to the field this week when Lufkin hosts The Woodlands (Texas) College Park.

He has been keeping his eyes on the Aggies this season and likes what he has seen.

"I like how they're doing in the SEC," he said. "I think they're doing good."

Jeffery said the coaching staff has told him that they liked the way he plays. The same can be said for Jeffery's feeling on the Aggies and their offense.

"I like them because they're a passing team," he said. "I know I would fit well in that program."

Baylor, Nebraska, North Texas, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas State, Texas Tech and UTEP are among the other schools that Jeffery said he has heard from, but the Aggies are the only one to offer so far.
