Texas A&M Aggies

Kyler Murray's sophomore year has been eventful, to say the least.

The Allen (Texas) High School quarterback led his team to a Texas Class 5A Division I state championship and has seen several schools begin to pursue him in recruiting. To date, the 2015 prospect has five scholarship offers.

In addition, he's in the middle of a baseball season, with his Allen team sitting in first place in its district on the doorstep of the state playoffs as of Monday. Though an accomplished quarterback, Murray has also been successful on the diamond, hitting .372 with 20 stolen bases this season for the Eagles while manning second base.

It's been quite a year for Murray.

Gladewater (Texas) High School defensive tackle Daylon Mack felt confident in where his recruitment was headed.

Having picked up offers from the two most well-known programs in his home state, visiting both campuses and dissecting it all, he felt certain that he was ready to make a commitment to one of them.

Then Alabama extended the 2015 prospect a scholarship offer and Mack took a step back. Now, the 6-foot-2, 307-pound prospect intends to take his time when it comes to decision-making in the recruiting process.

ESPN 150 defensive end Solomon Thomas (Coppell, Texas/Coppell) is about as unassuming a high-profile recruit as one will come across.

He doesn’t get tangled up in the vastness of recruiting. He's not one to openly speak of his achievements. He’s also not one to rush a decision as important as his commitment to the college program of his choice.

Go ahead and ask him where he’s going or who he’s favoring and you’ll get an answer you’d swear was stuck on loop.

RICHMOND, Texas -- The first few weeks away from home weren't easy for Nick Harvey. The desire to be back in familiar surroundings in the Dallas area, with his Lancaster (Texas) High School teammates, was strong.

Slowly, but surely, the ESPN 150 athlete is getting comfortable in his new surroundings. With track season winding down and spring football about to get cranked up at Harvey's new home, Richmond (Texas) Travis High, he's smiling more, laughing more and building a bond with the teammates he'll suit up with this fall.

"I'm feeling better," said Harvey, a Texas A&M commitment. "Everything's going good school-wise. They're slowly becoming my brothers and the coaches are pretty cool so everything is going good."

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Former Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel's name could be the first called when the NFL draft begins on Thursday.

If it does play out that way, it would be the latest in a long line of landmark events that have occurred since the start of last football season that have raised Texas A&M's profile and, as a result, helped the Aggies in recruiting.

Texas A&M has three commits in the 2014 ESPN 150, which was released today. Here's a look at the Aggies' top 10 targets in the ESPN 150, listed from highest to lowest ranked:

1. CB Adoree' Jackson (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra)
5-foot-11, 183 pounds
ESPN 150 Rank: 5

Why they want him: Speed and athleticism. Jackson has most of what coaches want in a cornerback. His fluid hips, foot quickness and natural athleticism make him an elite prospect. Could wind up on the offensive side of the ball and said some schools are recruiting him as a receiver.

Who else wants him: Plenty of power programs have offered Jackson, including Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon and USC.

Odds they get him: Jackson said he intends to visit Texas A&M this summer, so the Aggies will have their chance to impress the five-star prospect. USC and UCLA are also schools that the Illinois native is interested in but Aggies' secondary coach Marcel Yates has experience recruiting the West Coast from his days at Boise State and landed 2013 ESPN 150 receiver Sebastian LaRue for the Aggies earlier this year.

A Lone Star State prospect who has seen his profile rise quickly this spring is 2015 tight end Jordan Davis. The Houston Clear Lake product committed to Florida State in March. At the time, the Seminoles were his only offer but the relationship existed for some time after Davis visited an FSU camp last summer. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end acknowledged that even with the commitment, he would take visits and in the last month has gone to Texas for its sophomore day and most recently, to Texas A&M for the Maroon-and-White spring game. He has added offers from Texas and Oklahoma since his commitment.
