Texas A&M Aggies: Oklahoma Sooners

Earlier this month, Lewisburg (Tenn.) Marshall County kicker Aaron Medley was thrilled to pick up his first FBS scholarship offer from a power program in the Big 12.

On Monday, the 6-foot-2, 165-pound placekicker and punter was just as excited, adding an SEC program to his offer list.

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa (Okla.) Union wide receiver Jeffery Mead simply doesn’t know how to slow down and doesn’t want to. Mead is a three-sport star for the Redskins at receiver, small forward in basketball and shortstop/pitcher in baseball.

The scary part is Mead was actually doing five sports at one time with soccer and track added into the mix. He eventually cut those out, but the other three sports are all in play, as Mead gets ready to conclude his junior year of high school.

The event took place at the Accelerate Performance Enhancement Center (APEC) training facility, which has trained professionals such as quarterback Graham Harrell, running back Kendall Hunter and pro baseball pitchers Phillip Humber and Josh Tomlin.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Versatility is a trait widely admired by college programs, but one that doesn’t always come in the form of someone 6-foot-6 and 247 pounds.

Koda Martin’s size alone makes him an attractive prospect, but couple it with his ability to play on either side of the ball and it’s easy to see why the four-star recruit from Manvel, Texas, has close to 20 offers.

Martin, who is rated as the No. 21 offensive tackle and No. 43 player in the state of Texas, was in Austin on Saturday to get a better feel for one of those schools that offered him.

We caught up with Martin at the Texas State track and field meet to see how everything went with the visit with Texas, and where he stands overall.

TEXAS CITY, Texas -- These days, it's all smiles for ESPN 150 receiver Armanti Foreman.

Life is good for the Texas City (Texas) High School star. Offers are coming left and right. He's preparing for a banner senior season with his twin brother, 2014 running back D'Onta Foreman. He's enjoying the final weeks of his junior year of high school. On Tuesday, Armanti was sprinting past defensive backs and juking defenders out of their shorts, showing the playmaking ability that has so many colleges at his doorstep.

Spring (Texas) Klein Oak High School has a handful of prospects in the 2014, 2015 and even the 2016 classes and plenty of college coaches have made their way to the school in the north Houston area to evaluate them this spring.

One of them is 2014 inside linebacker Josh Mabin, who continues to add schools to his offer list.

MANVEL, Texas — On the wall across the Manvel (Texas) High School locker room and weight room, there is a poster with the words "Hoka Hey."

Though the term's original meaning was "It's a good day to die," when Crazy Horse let the Sioux to a victory at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876, around Manvel High, it takes on a much more amiable meaning. Specifically, it's used to symbolize teamwork. At the top of the poster are the words "Hoka Hey = Play Unselfish."

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — When it comes to the track, success is almost as natural to Kendall Sheffield (Missouri City, Texas/Thurgood Marshall) as it is on the football field.

Yes, Sheffield is one of the most notable Class of 2015 football prospects in the Houston area and the state of Texas, but the cornerback has been running track as long as he's been playing football. Over the weekend in the Texas Class 4A Region III track and field championships, he showed off those skills, winning the 300-meter hurdles (37.56 seconds) and finishing second to ESPN 150 cornerback Tony Brown in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.97 seconds.

It was his first regional title in high school and he'll head to the Texas state championships in May in both events.

Gladewater (Texas) High School defensive tackle Daylon Mack felt confident in where his recruitment was headed.

Having picked up offers from the two most well-known programs in his home state, visiting both campuses and dissecting it all, he felt certain that he was ready to make a commitment to one of them.

Then Alabama extended the 2015 prospect a scholarship offer and Mack took a step back. Now, the 6-foot-2, 307-pound prospect intends to take his time when it comes to decision-making in the recruiting process.

ESPN 150 defensive end Solomon Thomas (Coppell, Texas/Coppell) is about as unassuming a high-profile recruit as one will come across.

He doesn’t get tangled up in the vastness of recruiting. He's not one to openly speak of his achievements. He’s also not one to rush a decision as important as his commitment to the college program of his choice.

Go ahead and ask him where he’s going or who he’s favoring and you’ll get an answer you’d swear was stuck on loop.

A Lone Star State prospect who has seen his profile rise quickly this spring is 2015 tight end Jordan Davis. The Houston Clear Lake product committed to Florida State in March. At the time, the Seminoles were his only offer but the relationship existed for some time after Davis visited an FSU camp last summer. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end acknowledged that even with the commitment, he would take visits and in the last month has gone to Texas for its sophomore day and most recently, to Texas A&M for the Maroon-and-White spring game. He has added offers from Texas and Oklahoma since his commitment.

Davis, who is being courted by Aggies special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Jeff Banks as well as offensive coordinator Clarence McKinney, recaps his visit to Aggieland with GigEmNation:

DESOTO, Texas -- If nothing else, 2015 running back JaMycal Hasty (Longview, Texas/Longview) has been very visible the last couple of weeks.

On April 5, Hasty attended Texas A&M’s “Friday Night Lights” extravaganza. The following weekend, he returned to College Station, Texas, for the Aggies’ annual spring football game. Hasty was one of only a handful of players to make both Texas A&M events.

“It was exciting,” Hasty said of the spring game. “Even though the stadium wasn’t filled, you could still feel the excitement of the crowd. It’s a fun place to be.”

Spring (Texas) Klein Oak 2014 linebacker Ja'Von Shelley made one visit to Texas A&M this spring.

On Saturday, he made a return trip for the Maroon-and-White spring football game. Though he originally planned to visit Oklahoma for its spring game, plans fell through and he called up Aggies' linebackers coach Mark Hagen, who encouraged Shelley to make his way back to Aggieland.

The visit, like Shelley's first to Texas A&M, was a positive one.
