Temple adds another LB to 2013 class
By Josh Moyer
Temple added another player to its recruiting class Friday morning, when a linebacker pledged to two Owls coaches who visited him at school.
Sharif Finch (Richmond, Va./Henrico) sat down briefly with head coach Matt Rhule and assistant Brandon Noble before telling them he wanted to be a part of the Owls. Finch initially wanted to announce his decision on signing day but reconsidered late Thursday night.
Finch's decision came down to Temple and Old Dominion. He listed Penn State in his top three, but the staff called Friday morning to let his coach know it would not be offering him a scholarship.
"Temple loved his film, and they really put the hard push on him because they wanted him," Henrico coach Roger Brookes said. "And Sharif really liked what they had to offer with their facilities and everything."
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker becomes the 21st commit of Temple's class and its fourth linebacker. He made an official visit to Temple last week.
"He just loved that visit, and he loved the city," Brookes said. "He's originally from New York, and he really did love hearing what they were going to do academically."
