Commit sound off: O'Brien NFL speculation

By Josh Moyer

NittanyNation recently contacted several commits to get their thoughts on the NFL speculation surrounding Bill O'Brien. Here's what they had to say:

Christian Hackenberg, QB
Four stars, No. 1 at position
"I really haven't been paying much attention to the speculation. I have a good relationship with him, and I talk with him and he tells me how it is. It's been like that the whole time, so that's one of the reasons why I'm not paying attention. My parents trust him, and that's the guy I listen to."

Curtis Cothran, DE
Three stars, No. 103 at position
"That's the first time I heard that. I didn't know he was supposed to be leaving for any NFL jobs, but I think he'll stick around. He's seemed like a pretty committed guy. I don't think he's going to anyway; I'm pretty positive on it. Just speaking to him as a man, he's all in. And I don't think he would skip out on the job."

Andrew Nelson,  OT
Four stars, No. 18 at position
"I'm really not concerned. I've been so impressed with the character of Coach O'Brien and, really, I have all my trust in him -- and I trust he's going to do what's right no matter what it is. Obviously, I think even after the sanctions that Penn State's been able to reel in some recruits -- so I'm not concerned about the recruiting classes. I'm going to put my trust in Coach O'Brien. I'm not worried at all."

Jordan Smith, CB
Three stars, No. 59 at position
"Just hearing it, I pay no attention to it. O'Brien's a great coach, and I have all my faith in Coach O'Brien. If Coach O'Brien asked me to run through a brick wall, I'm doing it. I just think Coach O'Brien's not going anywhere. Without a doubt, he's staying here."
