Saturday's junior day proved to be an important one for Penn State. Besides earning another commitment, the Nittany Lions also extended offers to four more players.
Here's a closer look at those four:
S Anthony Davis, Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway
6-foot, 175 pounds
Other major offers: Illinois, Missouri, Texas Tech.
Snyopsis: He and teammate Montae Nicholson now both have offers and headline arguably the best secondary in the state. Davis led his team with four interceptions in 2012, and it appears as if the Nittany Lions are in good shape with him right now.
Quotables: "It was a great experience. I loved every minute of it. They showed me a lot of respect."
OL Noah Beh, Scranton (Pa.) Prep
6-foot-7, 245 pounds
Other major offers: Boston College, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Temple.
Synopsis: According to Beh's coach, Mac McWhorter and PSU initially wanted him as an offensive lineman. Then, after taking a look at his highlight tape, McWhorter told Scranton Prep coach Nick Donato it actually liked him as a defensive end. And, on Saturday, apparently PSU reverted back to offense. Beh has limited football experience, so he has a high ceiling -- and he has that versatility that PSU craves.
Quotables: "I wasn't really expecting it, but I am excited."
DT Thomas Holley, Brooklyn (N.Y.) Abraham Lincoln
6-foot-5, 290 pounds
Other major offers: Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Rutgers.
Synopsis: His recruitment has really blown up in the last three weeks. He said he's enjoying the ride, and he was really pleased with his PSU visit. After seeing parts of the campus and exploring the inside of Beaver Stadium, he said he could really see himself here.
Quotables: "Well, they don't only focus on sports. They focus on academics; they take that very seriously."
WR Troy Apke, Pittsburgh (Pa.) Mount Lebanon
6-foot-2, 180 pounds
Other major offers: Pitt
Synopsis: He's got good size, and he has the type of speed Penn State's looking for. He reportedly runs a 4.4 in the 40, and he caught 54 balls as a junior for 1,058 yards and 13 touchdowns. He's not a big-name prospect yet, but he's recruitment is just beginning.
Quotables: "I liked it a lot. But it's early -- so we'll see."
