Safety Kasey Gaines (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) said he's leaning toward committing to Penn State.
The three-star prospect had previously narrowed down his choices to Harvard and the Nittany Lions. After two weeks of reflecting on the two schools, he said he's more likely to head to Happy Valley.
"I'm leaning toward Penn State," Gaines said Thursday night. "Just being part of a D-I school like Penn State, that's every kid's dream."
Gaines said he planned to call defensive coordinator Ted Roof on Saturday night to see how soon the coach needed a final decision. Gaines still hasn't eliminated Harvard, but he was thinking of just committing to Penn State and then waiting to see if the Ivy League school accepts him.
If Harvard rejects Gaines, he holds a full scholarship to Penn State. If Harvard accepts him, he'll have a decision to make.
"I'm still trying to get this Harvard thing settled, but I'm still leaning toward Penn State," he added.
Penn State is the lone FBS school to offer Gaines, but he's also receiving interest from Wisconsin. The Georgia defensive back also holds offers from Harvard, Howard, Presbyterian and Virginia Military.
