Offensive guard Tanner Hartman (Lynchburg, Va./Liberty Christian Academy) decommitted from Maryland and pledged his loyalty to Penn State on Tuesday night, his high school coach said.

"This one kind of played out strangely," said Liberty coach Frank Rocco, who's also a former PSU quarterback. "When he committed to Maryland, in my mind, it was over. But in that last stretch, as Penn State has gotten involved and offered and so forth, it really became more of him and his dad searching that last possibility out."

The two-star recruit becomes the 11th commit in Penn State's 2013 class, on the heels of Kasey Gaines' (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) pledge last week. ESPN recently ranked PSU's class as the nation's 24th-best -- and that was without the last two prospects.
