Usually, we recognize between three and five Penn State players -- the best and the brightest -- in a given week. But Saturday night's 63-14 loss to Ohio State didn't yield many standout performers.
So, this week, there's just one:
Tailback Bill Belton: When the game wasn't yet decided, in the first half, Belton got out to a hot start and showed that, right now, he's the best running back in this offense. The Buckeyes hadn't allowed a player to rush for more than 74 yards in a game all season. And, by halftime, Belton had rushed for 78 yards. He showed explosiveness through the hole, showed patience when he needed and even threw a few good blocks. He finished the game with 98 yards on 22 carries for an average of 4.5 ypc, while OSU limits ball-carriers to an average of just 2.95 ypc. He performed well against the best run defense that Penn State has seen all season.
