OSU Buckeyes: Nick Chubb
BuckeyeNation continues to hit the road in search of budding Division I talent that should catch the eyes of Ohio State fans. Here’s what we came up with this week:
This week’s targets: BuckeyeNation swung out to Akron and made stops at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and Buchtel. St. Vincent-St. Mary is the home of Ohio State commitment and running back Parris Campbell Jr. as well as eighth-ranked outside linebacker Dante Booker. Buchtel, which is coached by former Michigan running back Ricky Powers, also has a few diamonds in the rough. One in particular is defensive end Anthony Clark, who is gathering steam as he heads into his senior season. The interest in Ohio State is strong at both schools as the Buckeyes try to back a strong 2013 recruiting class with another in 2014.
Area of interest: While everyone talks about Urban Meyer going national for his classes, five of his eight commitments are from Ohio. Ohio State should maintain that strategy and rely on recruits to help out as well. Campbell is already teammates with Booker and is trying to persuade the outside linebacker to join the Buckeyes’ ranks. At Cleveland Glenville, Ohio State pledge and offensive tackle Marcelys Jones is teammates with the top-ranked player in the state in ESPN 150 athlete Marshon Lattimore. If Meyer continues to fence in his borders and has the help from recruits, it should help in the long run. All eight pledges hail from the Midwest.

The RN Top 10 will appear throughout the camp and combine season and rank prospects based strictly on their on-field performance at that particular event. It does not reflect what their overall prospect ranking will be when the 2014 rankings are unveiled this spring.
BUFORD, Ga. – With 276 players taking part in the Atlanta Nike Football Training Camp on Saturday, there were dozens of prospects in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes who had already been offered by FBS programs. Six of the participants were awarded invitations to the The Opening later the summer.
10. Terronne Prescod
Lithonia (Ga.) Columbia |OG|6-foot-4, 320 pounds
The offensive linemen at the Atlanta NFTC were not an overly impressive group, but Prescod stood out, not just because of his hairstyle. He locked up and drove back multiple defensive tackles and showed an impressive base.
Prescod is approaching 10 offers, and has scholarship opportunities with Missouri, Ole Miss and Virginia. At the moment, Prescod says Missouri is standing out. Watch out for Auburn if they offer, as they seem to be the school he feels most at home with right now.
Craig Haubert’s take: “Prescod did a nice job in the offensive line group that was not among the strongest at the NFTC this year. He showed good bend and strong punch and he has outstanding size, both in height and bulk.”

As the 2014 recruiting class comes more and more into focus following what was yet another strong national signing day for Urban Meyer, BuckeyeNation will take a position-by-position look at the juniors.
Today, we examine the running back position. Though it’s a position of strength for Ohio State with junior Parris Campbell Jr. (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) committing on Feb. 10, the Buckeyes aren't satisfied yet.
In the Class of 2013, Ohio State took just one running back – Ezekiel Elliott (St. Louis/John Burroughs) -- and with Jordan Hall and Carlos Hyde out of eligibility after the season, the Buckeyes could take two from the Class of 2014.

On Feb. 6 when Alvin Kamara announced on ESPNU that he was going to play for Alabama, his decision marked the end of a six-year streak in which Georgia had signed a top-10 running back.
The battle for Kamara went on for almost a year and the Bulldogs finished a close second, but that means nothing in football recruiting. While the Georgia fanbase was disappointed, the Bulldogs did pick up commitments from A.J. Turman and Brendan Douglas and are in good shape with a couple top 2014 running backs. In fact, Georgia leads for one of the top tailbacks in the Peach State.

On the heels of an incredible national signing day, Ohio State had an equally good junior day on Sunday when offensive tackle Kyle Trout gave his commitment to the Buckeyes just ahead of defensive end Lawrence Marshall and speedy running back Parris Campbell Jr.
But it wasn’t all about commitments as big targets from 2014 -- Jamarco Jones -- and 2015 -- Damien Harris -- spoke well of their visits, too.
Friday saw a list of juniors ready to visit Ohio State this weekend, though a late change of plans kept Myles Autry and Nick Chubb from visiting Columbus, Ohio. By the way, offensive linemen will be the focus of the Buckeyes in this recruiting class.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- As a junior at Cedartown (Ga.) High School, Nick Chubb rushed for over 2,700 yards and 38 touchdowns, so it should come as no surprise that he’s seen a spike in interest from BCS programs.
The ESPN Watch List running back has picked up offers from Florida, Georgia and Georgia Tech over the last month, and the good news continued on Saturday.

ATLANTA -- Running back Nick Chubb (Cedartown, Ga./Cedartown) walked off the field Monday at Grady High School at the conclusion of the Georgia Junior Bowl game surrounded by his family. Well-wishers called out to him and congratulated him on his performance. More than one person congratulated him on his most recent scholarship offer -- from the University of Georgia -- that Chubb picked up before the game.
“It was a real good day,” Chubb said. “I am blessed. Georgia said they were going to offer me but they can’t make it official until they figure out the 2013 class and all that stuff and then they will offer me. But he said I have an offer from them. I felt better when he said, 'I am going to give it to you.'”
“He” in this case is Bulldogs' running backs coach Bryan McClendon, whose tenure at Georgia has been successful in recruiting such highly coveted tailbacks as Isaiah Crowell, Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall.

Running back Nick Chubb (Cedartown, Ga./Cedartown) made a name for himself in Georgia this season. The 5-foot-11, 208-pound junior rushed for 2,721 yards and 38 touchdowns, more than any running back in state history in a 10-game regular season.
For those that follow recruiting, Chubb could soon become a household name. Tennessee, Ohio State, Purdue and Georgia Tech have offered Chubb so far, and two of those offers stick out in his mind right now.

When Nick Chubb (Cedartown, Ga./Cedartown) opened his junior season with 390 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns in three quarters during a 40-0 win over Rockmart, some eyebrows were raised.
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Chubb hit the halfway mark of the regular season with a 366-yard, 7-touchdown performance against Southeast Whitfield, and then schools really started to take interest.
Now with an offer from Ohio State, Chubb could become a big part of a Buckeyes offense that already includes high school touchdown machines Bri’onte Dunn (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) and Ezekiel Elliott (St. Louis/John Burroughs), should he decide to come to Columbus in 2014.

Last year, ESPN 150 running back Tyren Jones (Marietta, Ga./Walton) led the state in rushing as a junior with 2,375 yards and 33 touchdowns. While the Alabama commitment already has 1,120 yards in five games this season, another junior has outpaced him so far. Nick Chubb (Cedartown, Ga./Cedartown) leads the state in rushing with 1,416 yards in only five games, and the 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back has already scored 21 touchdowns as well.
Wednesday was a big day for Chubb, as he got some big news. A few weeks ago, Tennessee safeties coach Josh Conklin was on the sideline to watch Chubb against Ridgeland, and apparently he liked what he saw in the junior tailback.
“I got an offer from Tennessee today while I was in school,” Chubb said. “Jay Graham, the running backs coach, gave the offer. I have been working hard and waiting for this, so it feels good.”
