OSU impresses Watch List WR Godwin
By Brad Bournival
Ohio State had a chance to make a good first impression with ESPN Watch List wide receiver Chris Godwin (Middletown, Del./Middletown). According to the 6-foot-2, 197-pound Godwin, there will be a second.
Godwin was on hand this weekend and had the opportunity to get a first-hand look at Ohio State.
Columbus, Ohio -- and Ohio State in particular -- did not disappoint Godwin, who is arguably the best junior prospect in Delaware.
“I really enjoyed my first visit to Ohio State,” Godwin said “The coaches were great and welcoming. The facilities are top notch.
“The stadium is really nice and Coach [Urban] Meyer seems like a really good coach. I got a chance to build good relationships with Coach [Zach] Smith and Coach [Tom] Herman. Yes, I plan on making another visit.”
That could be great news for the Buckeyes as they try to lock in on Godwin, who caught 42 passes for 834 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 427 yards and registered five other touchdowns.
But it wasn’t all about football as Godwin had a chance to walk around Ohio State and take some mental notes.
“I got a chance to see the campus and was really impressed with what I saw,” Godwin said.
The next step for the junior is a trip to Rutgers on April 6 with an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech lined up for April 20.
Godwin is certainly in demand, with offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
He also has interest from Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina and Washington.
