Mailbag: Filling out big 2014 names

By Brad Bournival

It’s time to dip into the BuckeyeNation recruiting mailbag and answer some of your questions. We’ll try to give everyone a chance to get their questions answered. We encourage you to send your questions by Twitter at @bbournival, email at brad.bournival.espn@gmail.com or by posting a question in the Horseshoe Pit forum.

Here’s the latest installment:

@jbook37: With Ohio State being in on so many elite offensive linemen, what do you think the pecking order is for the top five?

BuckeyeNation: The No. 1 pick is a popular choice and one who shouldn’t come as a surprise, as tackle Jamarco Jones (Chicago/DE La Salle) has been on campus a ton and is very high on the list. After that I would put guard Sam Mustipher (Olney, Md./Good Counsel). He’ll be on campus on April 6 and was blown away by his visit last time. After that I’ll put junior college tackles Chad Mavety (Garden City, N.Y./Nassau Community College) and Jermaine Eluemunor (Rockaway, N.J./Lackawanna Community College), who are supposed to join Mustipher on the visit, though those two will be a fight to get. If you’re looking for a number five, check out tackle Quenton Nelson (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), who is wrapping up an unofficial visit today.

@Nick_Handy23: Who do you see being the next couple commits for the 2014 class?

BN: Talk about your direct questions. OK. I’ll say Kyle Berger (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) and Derek Kief (Cincinnati/La Salle). Berger is talking about taking visits to Michigan State and UCLA, but has been to Columbus, Ohio countless times. He fits the scheme, and Ohio State needs linebackers. Kief, I like from the standpoint he has blown up on the recruiting scene, loves the Buckeyes and is on campus today.

@DouglasDiLillo: Who do you think is the target at quarterback after Deshaun Watson?

BN: Caleb Henderson (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock). He was on campus last weekend, and Ohio State told him it wants him to come back for one of their advanced camps. He’s no stranger to the Buckeyes having visited three times before. While that offer might not come until June, Henderson is a good fit for the team with a rocket arm and smart playmaking ability.

ced2580@gmail.com: How do you feel about Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County) being a defensive end/defensive tackle? Most reports have him closer to 250 right now (still growing). By the time he gets on campus next year, I would say he would be closer to 260. How far off base am I?

BN: It’s funny you should say that because our analysts updated his scouting report on Thursday and the last sentence talks about him sliding into a defensive end position should he keep growing. He’d be perfect for the LEO spot at Ohio State. If you’ve ever watched film on McMillan, you can see he moves quite well in space. Wherever he winds up, he should succeed.
