Ohio State finally offers another QB
By Brad Bournival
Torrance Gibson (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) is one of only two, and he knows just how special it is.
A class of 2015 quarterback, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Gibson joined ESPN Watch List junior Deshaun Watson (Gainesville, Ga./Gainesville) as the only signal callers currently with offers from Ohio State.
“He sounds like a great quarterback,” Gibson said. “This means I have to grind harder and harder each day.”
The fact Gibson has picked up an offer from the Buckeyes is pretty impressive, as he was a backup for the Patriots last season to Tyler Cogswell, a three-star pocket passer who signed with Cincinnati.
As a sophomore, Gibson was 12-of-23 for 271 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 15 carries for 227 yards and five scores.
What colleges are seeing on tape is a different story, as Boston College and Miami (Fla.) have offered, as well as Ohio State. Alabama, Florida and Florida State are showing interest, too.
“They’re telling me I’m a great player, and I can be one of the greatest quarterbacks,” Gibson said humbly.
As for the offer from the Buckeyes, being from the Sunshine State, Gibson is well aware of what it means as he enters his first season as the starter.
“That offer is real big,” Gibson said. “Urban Meyer is a great coach. What he did with the Gators and now with Ohio State, it’s just amazing.”
