WR Todd takes in USC junior day

By Erik McKinney

Wide receiver Dallis Todd (La Mirada, Calif./La Mirada) has seen his recruitment take off over the past few months. Offers from Clemson, Florida, Nebraska, Ohio State and Texas A&M, among others, made him one of the more sought-after receivers in the West region. But this past weekend, Todd was able to take his first up-close look at an in-state school as he visited USC for the Trojans' junior day.

"Overall it was good," Todd said. "I got to talk to the coaching staff and coach [Lane] Kiffin. I was able to talk to the wide receivers coach, coach [Tee] Martin for about five minutes and he was saying I could be the next superstar at USC. He wants me to call him every week."

It is still early in the recruiting process for Todd, who will likely add plenty more scholarship offers during the spring evaluation period. But he said it was "crazy" that USC would be the first program in the state with which he will be keeping contact.

"They want me to go to one of their camps in the summer, and most likely I'll do that," Todd said.

At this point, Todd only has one visit planned -- to Ohio State on April 6 -- but said he would also like to visit Clemson, Florida, Tennessee and Texas A&M, though he doesn't know when he would be able to do so.

A former member of the 2013 recruiting class, Todd received an extra year of high school eligibility and will graduate early. It also put him on the radar of some of the top programs in the country as soon as word spread that he would be a part of the 2014 class.

"It's been crazy," Todd said of recruiting. "My last offer was from Texas A&M, last week. It's just been crazy talking to some of these coaches. I guess Alabama is interested in me now. They said they will be watching my film soon, together as a staff."
