Assessing the 2014 WR/ATH position

By Brad Bournival

What will Ohio State do for an encore?

That’s the question after the Buckeyes landed wide receiver/athletes Jalin Marshall, Dontre Wilson, Corey Smith and James Clark in the 2013 recruiting class.

Jalen Brown
Watch List WR Jalen Brown is high on Ohio State's 2014 wish list.
With 2014 underway, Ohio State has shown no signs of slowing down with 16 offers out. Offensive tackle is the only position with more offers out.

Of the sweet 16, 14 appear on the ESPN Watch List with some can’t-miss names among the masses.

Throw in athletes like Drake Harris (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and Marshon Lattimore (Cleveland/Glenville) and the position is loaded for 2014.

Lattimore likely projects as a defensive back -- he was named the position’s MVP at the Best of the Midwest Combine on Monday -- leaving Harris as the class of those offered by the Buckeyes so far.

Jalen Brown (Phoenix/Mountain Pointe), Demarre Kitt (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) and Artavis Scott (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake) fall in line after Harris.

Harris’ numbers prove he is likely the No. 1 target for Ohio State with 91 catches for 2,016 yards and 23 touchdowns. Brown (67 catches, 1,235 yards, 18 touchdowns) would be an incredible get if the Buckeyes can grab him with Kitt (44 catches, 745 yards, 7 touchdowns) having Ohio State high on his list.

Scott (54 catches, 1,154 yards, 12 touchdowns) is high on the radar of Ohio State as well.

Lonnie Johnson (31 catches, 777 yards, 13 touchdowns) is also an option for the Buckeyes.
