Ohio State offers 6-foot-5 wide receiver
By Brad Bournival
In his words, his pursuit of the big one is over.
Derek Kief (Cincinnati/La Salle) landed the big one Thursday.
It came when Ohio State offered the 6-foot-5, 180-pound wide receiver, and it hit home right away for the in-state star.
“It means a lot,” Kief said. “This is the offer I’ve always been chasing. It’s really important, because it’s the in-state school that every Ohio kid dreams of going to as a kid.”
It was hard not to notice Kief as he was sensational last fall, logging 65 receptions for 907 yards and scored nine touchdowns in 10 games.
“I bring to a team a sure-handed, big body that can get open due to good route running,” Kief said. “I’ll also work as hard as I need to in order to be the best.”
Kief has offers from Boston College, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Kent State, Kentucky, Maryland, Northwestern, Toledo and Vanderbilt.
He also has interest from Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
