Linemen lining up for OSU in 2014

By Brad Bournival

With only ESPN 150 offensive tackle Evan Lisle and Tim Gardner signed from the class of 2013, the trenches will become the focus of 2014 for Ohio State.

Marcelys Jones
Six-foot-4, 325-pound offensive lineman Marcelys Jones became the Buckeyes' first 2014 commitment in late December 2012.
That’s become evident so far as the Buckeyes have made the position a point of interest. The trenches own the most offers for Ohio State so far and were the focal point of the first commitment from the junior class in offensive tackle Marcelys Jones.

While the Buckeyes still have the better part of 11-plus months to hold onto Jones, who is picking up offers like wildfire, they aren’t resting on their laurels in this early stage of the game.

Twenty offensive tackles have already picked up offers from Ohio State including the likes of Watch List junior Alex Bars, Andy Bauer, Orlando Brown Jr., Jimmy Byrne, Mason Cole, Reilly Gibbons, Roderick Johnson, Jamarco Jones, Marcelys Jones, Demetrius Knox, K.C. McDermott, Quenton Nelson, Damian Prince, Braden Smith, Bentley Spain, Donell Stanley and Kyle Trout.

Byrne (Notre Dame) and Knox (Texas) are already committed. Trout and Jamarco Jones will be on campus this weekend for a big junior day.

There are already offers out to Watch List guard Sam Mustipher and Arizona standout Natrell Curtis.

While the recruiting process is still way too early in terms of prognosticating favorites, the squad is way ahead of the game as 2014 could feature as many as six linemen come signing day Feb. 5.
