The feeling: Alabama was thought to once be in the driver’s seat for Bell. Now, the Crimson Tide might be a distant third. Ohio State loses out to Tennessee in the end.
Ohio State is a finalist for New Smyrna Beach, Fla., wide receiver James Clark, who is unofficially visiting Florida this weekend.
2. WR James Clark (New Smyrna Beach, Fla./New Smyrna Beach)
Remaining schools: Clemson, Florida, Ohio State
The feeling: Things haven’t changed in our minds since the last time we visited Clark. He’s taking an unofficial visit to Florida this weekend -- Clark has seen the Gators a handful of times. If the Buckeyes can survive the weekend, he could be playing for Ohio State in the fall.
The feeling: Wilson chose the Longhorns for his last official visit this weekend. It’s more of a courtesy visit than anything for the ESPN 150 athlete. The hiring of Mark Helfrich should have helped the Ducks keep Wilson as a commitment. It’s still tight between Ohio State and Oregon.
4. ATH Ryan Timmons (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County)
Remaining schools: Florida, Kentucky, Ohio State
The feeling: This one is interesting as a lot depends on his official visit with the Gators this weekend, but not from an Ohio State standpoint. We think Timmons might be out with the Buckeyes, so we’re putting the Wildcats in the driver’s seat this morning. We can change our minds by the time he announces on Tuesday.
The feeling: Hoop dreams. Enough said. Elder loves the basketball court and the Boilermakers are the first big school to offer him. We expect to see him in Mackey Arena next fall.
