Huskers commit Finnin ponders new offer

By Jared Shanker

Juco offensive tackle Matt Finnin (Crete, Ill./College of Dupage) might have a more stressful signing day than originally planned.

The three-star lineman committed to Nebraska on Jan. 20 while on his official visit, but Ohio State offered the 6-foot-7, 315-pound Finnin on Monday. After initially being noncommittal about what the Buckeyes offer means in terms of his recruitment, the Nebraska commit said he's sticking with the Cornhuskers.

"I was never entertaining the idea of visiting," Finnin said. "I've been 100 [percent] solid with my decision since I made it and it hasn't changed. I just had to talk to my folks before telling [Ohio State] no."

Finnin has one official visit left, after he canceled his Marshall visit for the weekend of Jan. 25. The previous weekend he committed to Nebraska while on an official visit.

Ohio State is beginning to run out of options along the offensive line for 2013. Urban Meyer is not known for recruiting prospects from the juco ranks, but the Buckeyes are trying to pull a signing day coup with a tackle committed elsewhere after striking out on several offensive tackles recently.
