Ohio State offers Watch List OT Gibbons

By Brad Bournival

There’s a shortage of offensive linemen in Columbus after the 2013 season. Urban Meyer knows it. That’s why the trenches are a point of interest for Ohio State in the 2014 recruiting class.

The Buckeyes offered their 19th offensive tackle from the junior class and their 21st offensive lineman overall.

This one came with a big name, as Reilly Gibbons (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg Catholic) picked up an offer from the Buckeyes.

“Reilly talked at length with Coach Ed Warinner and was excited to hear he has been offered by the Ohio State University,” his father Shannon said in a mass e-mail. “Our family feels very blessed with the week Reilly has had and that he has had the opportunity to meet so many great coaches from around the nation.”

The 6-foot-4, 274-pound Gibbons is an ESPN Watch list offensive tackle who has offers from 25 Division I schools.

Along with Ohio State, Cincinnati, Clemson, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Purdue, Rutgers, San Diego State, South Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia have thrown their hats in the ring.

Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Stanford, UCF and USC also have shown interest.
