OSU recruiting: Of offers and officials

By Brad Bournival

Hold on. Grab on to whatever you can to do so.

The recruiting at Ohio State just keeps moving at a faster pace and doesn’t appear to be slowing down until after national signing day.

Here’s a snapshot of what has happened to the Buckeyes in just a seven-day period.

Sunday brought some fireworks. OK, a lot of them.

Ohio State commit and ESPN 150 inside linebacker Trey Johnson took a behind-the-scenes official visit to Tennessee.

Should Ohio State fans be concerned about Ezekiel Elliott's official visit to Missouri?
Sunday also marked the end of official visits for James Clark and Dontre Wilson at Ohio State. Clark loved his visit, but still has five schools in the mix. Buckeyes pledge Ezekiel Elliott wasn’t talking about his visit to Missouri.

Cornelius Elder added a new wrinkle to his recruiting with a basketball offer from Purdue.

Cameron Hunt also went on an official visit to California, where he is currently committed, but the ESPN 300 offensive guard still has Ohio State in his final three.

On Saturday, big ESPN Watch List offensive tackle Kyle Trout finally got an offer from the Buckeyes. It’s a goal he’s fought for his entire life.

On Friday, ESPN 300 wide receiver Ryan Timmons set his final official visit and it wasn’t to Ohio State, while Dallis Todd picked up an offer from the Buckeyes as well. Donovan Munger finally ended talks of decommmitting from Ohio State to Florida State.

On Thursday, the Buckeyes offered 2014 defensive end Kentavious Street and then followed up with their 15th offer to a junior out of Georgia, this one D.J. Smith.

On Wednesday, ESPN Watch List offensive tackle Jamarco Jones talked about his upcoming junior day visit to Ohio State on the same day Watch List wideout Demarre Kitt said the Buckeyes were No. 2 in his pecking order.

Elijah Hood put Ohio State in his top five. Clark announced he was using his last official visit to come to Columbus, Ohio.

Of course the biggest news of the day was the fact ESPN 150 running back and longtime Ohio State pledge Elliott was planning a trip to Missouri for an official visit over the weekend. The night ended with news of Oregon visiting their star recruit Wilson, but not preventing him from taking an official visit to Ohio State.

On Tuesday, Oregon commit Darren Carrington also planned an official visit to Columbus on the same day possible future teammates Tyree and Tyrell Robinson canceled theirs.

ESPN Watch List wide receiver Dominique Booth talked about three schools catching his eye. Yep, Ohio State was one of them. Timmons also picked up that seemingly elusive offer from the Buckeyes.

Monday started off with the news of Timmons picking up an offer from Florida. We then found out how Dan Skipper’s official visits to Ohio State and Arkansas went.

Big-time recruit Vonn Bell also appraised his official visits to Ohio State and Alabama and gave insight to last weekend’s trip to Tennessee.
