Tough decision remains for OG Hunt
By Erik McKinney
ESPN 300 offensive guard Cameron Hunt (Corona, Calif./Centennial) committed to California in early July. But that decision seemingly marked the beginning of his recruitment, rather than the end.
Since then, Hunt has picked up offers from some of the top football programs in the country and is now set to decide between three schools on signing day.
California, Ohio State and Oregon remain in the mix for Hunt, and the Golden Bears were able to make the most recent impression as the four-star lineman took an official visit this weekend.
"I think it makes this decision a lot harder," Hunt said of his trip. "I'm glad I came, but the decision is going to be a lot harder."
Hunt took official visits to Ohio State and Oregon the previous two weeks and doesn't have any other trips planned. He said he hopes to be able to make a decision sometime this week, let the coaching staffs know his choice and then announce it publicly on signing day during a ceremony at his school.
Hunt said there were two things this most recent trip to Cal did for him.
"I think it built a stronger relationship with the coaching staff, and I could get a feeling and the vibe for the players and how they interact with the coaches," Hunt said.
He added that the biggest takeaway from the trip was the time he spent with the players on the team.
"A lot of them are really good guys," Hunt said. "I had a good time both nights. I'm glad I went because of the interaction I had with the players."
