Another official visit for Corn Elder
By Dave Hooker
Cornelius Elder will not take an official visit this weekend, but don't read too much into his recruitment. He's still considering the same finalist, but admitted that two have risen to the top.
The ESPN 300 prospect was considering an official trip to nearby Vanderbilt but will instead forgo the trip. Elder has repeatedly said he doesn't need to take an official visit to Vandy because he's so familiar with the campus.
Elder did however confirm that two schools have taken the lead for his services, Ohio State and UCLA. Still, other schools are still in the hunt as finalists.
For now, it looks as if Georgia Tech has secured Elder's final official visit. The No. 207 prospect in the nation and No. 2 prospect in Tennessee said he plans to take an official visit to Georgia Tech on Jan. 27, which is a Sunday. Elder can't travel to Atlanta on Friday because he has a basketball game on Saturday.
Elder told ESPN this week that he was primarily considering UCLA, Ohio State, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt. Despite the new travel plans that could eliminate an official visit to Auburn, Elder said those are still his finalists.
