Ohio State offers Watch List tight end
By Brad Bournival
Ohio State made it a fourth.
With three tight ends already offered from the class of 2014, the Buckeyes are now going after an ESPN Watch List junior.
The latest offer came Wednesday in the form of Nic Weishar (Chicago/Marist). It’s an offer that Weishar took to heart.
“It’s pretty awesome,” he said. “It’s very humbling. Obviously a school with the great football tradition like Ohio State, it’s nice to be able to consider them now.
“With the great year they had this year I’m sure there’s more to come under Coach [Urban] Meyer. I’m just going to continue to stay in touch with the coaches and hopefully come up for a visit sometime soon.”
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound junior already has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin to go along with the Buckeyes.
“With me, you’ll have a big guy that will never quit,” Weishar said. “First and foremost my teammates will attest that I’m a team player and a leader. Football-wise, I’m a big body that will go across the middle and go up and get the ball. I’m a real good blocker as well. Anything the coach needs me to do I’ll do it and give 100 percent while I’m doing it.”
This season, Weishar made 89 catches for 1,100 yards and scored five touchdowns.
