What's left for OSU's recruiting class
By Brad Bournival
With national signing day sitting three weeks away, it has become abundantly clear there are two positions Ohio State needs shore up in order to finish an already-strong class -- offensive line and wide receiver.
With that in mind, here are the seven names most likely left on the board for the Buckeyes, with a synopsis of what is going on with each:
OG Cameron Hunt/6-4, 267: The California commit enjoyed his official visits to Michigan and Ohio State over the weekend and will be in Oregon this weekend before closing things out at Cal. The Wolverines are likely out of the chase, making it a three-school race for the ESPN 300 senior.
OT Dan Skipper/6-8, 285: A Tennessee commit, he’s coming to Ohio State on an official visit this weekend and is scheduled for an official to Ole Miss the following weekend. The Volunteers are the team to beat, more than likely, but the Buckeyes are still in the game.
WR Shelton Gibson/5-11, 173: It was a surprise to some that the ESPN 300 wideout didn’t commit to the Buckeyes after his official visit. He has taken official visits to West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio State and likely will take one to Tennessee. This one could come down to national signing day.
WR Corey Smith/6-1, 180: A Mississippi State commit, he’s been a longtime Buckeyes fan. This one will come down to signing day, with Tennessee, Cincinnati and Ole Miss lined up for official visits. Watch this one closely.
RB/WR Cornelius Elder/ 5-10, 170: Elder still has a shot, but he might be a fallback plan at this point after taking an official visit over the weekend. The fact it has been quiet from his camp makes things interesting.
WR James Clark/5-11, 175: Clark is a late addition to the field, having picked up an offer on Monday. He has taken official visits to Purdue, Northwestern and Nebraska and will be in Clemson this weekend. He’s deciding between Florida and Ohio State for the last visit and has the Buckeyes “in the picture.” Those were the four-star wide receiver’s exact words.
WR Kyrin Priester/6-1, 181: The ESPN 300 wide receiver might be a North Carolina State commit, but he immediately put the Buckeyes on his official visit list for Jan. 25. He has an official visit to Clemson this weekend. Watch this one closely.
