Peaches and Jones set for OSU junior day

By Brad Bournival

There will be plenty of recruits pouring in from all over the country to meet in Columbus, Ohio on Feb. 10 for Ohio State’s junior day.

Deshaun Watson
Clemson commit Deshaun Watson is the only quarterback in the class of 2014 with an Ohio State offer.
Right now, however, the Buckeyes might want to think about changing the name of it to Georgia Day.

With 14 offers out to the class of 2014 from the Peach State, Ohio State is getting early returns as DeShaun Watson, Myles Autry, Nick Glass, Dante Sawyer and Nick Chubb are all scheduled to make the trip to Ohio for unofficial visits.

Raekwon McMillan is trying to get to Columbus as well, but said he hasn’t scheduled a visit yet because he’s taking the ACT a day earlier.

Even if McMillan can’t come, the early returns on Georgia visitors are impressive as Kitt, Autry, Glass and Watson are all ESPN Watch List juniors.

It won’t all be Georgians, as Watch List junior offensive tackle Jamarco Jones (Chicago/De La Salle) indicated Friday afternoon that he would be in Columbus as well. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Jones as held an Ohio State offer since June.

Both Autry and Kitt have the Buckeyes in their top five, while Glass, Watson and Sawyer have spoken quite highly of Ohio State. It should be noted that Glass (Georgia) and Watson (Clemson) are already committed.

Watson is the only quarterback from the class of 2014 Urban Meyer has offered as of now and for good reason.

The football player of the year out of Gainesville has already set career state records in passing yards (9,360), all-purpose touchdowns (155) and passing touchdowns (108).

This season, Watson became just the third 4,000-yard passer in state history and the second to throw for 50 touchdowns in a single season.

As a junior, he was 305-of-435 for 4,024 yards with 50 touchdowns and had 221 carries for 1,441 yards and 24 touchdowns.
