How Ohio State commits fared
By Brad Bournival
Jayme Thompson’s statistics weren’t that impressive on paper, but it can be argued the Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic safety is the reason the Fighting Irish beat Trotwood-Madison 16-12 in the Division II state championship.
His tackle on a fourth-and-2 call in the second quarter set up Central Catholic for a touchdown to make it a 14-point contest.
He was also part of a defense that held the Rams to 227 yards total offense.
Thompson finished with 2½ tackles.
Here’s how the other 16 Ohio State commits fared:
J.T. Barrett: Rider (Texas) quarterback is out for season with torn ACL and meniscus. His squad beat Burges 64-35 in Class 4A Division II Regional semifinal.
Joey Bosa: St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) defensive tackle suspended for 38-24 Class 7A Regional final win over Boyd Anderson.
Cam Burrows: Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) cornerback recorded 2½ tackles in 16-12 Division II state final loss to Toledo Central Catholic.
Tyquan Lewis: Tarboro (N.C.) defensive end/linebacker injured left foot in 24-20 Class 2A state final loss to East Lincoln. It was first time in four appearances Lewis lost state final.
Eli Woodard: Eastern (N.J.) cornerback caught 4 passes for 64 yards and touchdown in 30-27 South Jersey Group V semifinals loss to Southern Regional.
