How Ohio State pledges fared
By Brad Bournival
Ezekiel Elliott (St. Louis/John Burroughs) might not have gotten the result he wanted, but the ESPN 150 running back left his mark on Missouri high school football.
In the Class 3 state championship game, Elliott scored 3 touchdowns and had a tournament-record 419 all-purpose yards in a 35-22 loss to Maryville.
He finished his career with 100 touchdowns.
Here’s how the other 16 Ohio State commits fared in high school action:
J.T. Barrett: Rider (Texas) quarterback is out for season with torn ACL and meniscus. His squad beat Southwest 31-21 in the Class 4A Division II playoffs.
Joey Bosa: St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) defensive tackle recorded safety in 38-7 Class 7A Regional semifinal win over Plantation.
Cam Burrows: Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) cornerback recorded tackle and held New Albany to 51 yards passing in 33-32 Division II state semifinal win.
Tim Gardner: Lawrence Central (Ind.) offensive tackle helped Isaiah Townsend rush for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns and helped Drake Christen churn out 320 all-purpose yards in Class 5A state title win over Snider.
Darron Lee: New Albany (Ohio) safety recorded interception, rushed for 41 yards and passed for 51 yards with touchdown in 33-32 loss to Trotwood-Madison.
Tyquan Lewis: Tarboro (N.C.) defensive end/linebacker held South Columbus scoreless in Class 2A state semifinal.
