Rounding out Ohio State's 2013 class

By Brad Bournival

Fans and foes alike will know what Ohio State’s 2013 recruiting class looks like in three months.

While the remaining names aren’t foreign to those following closely, BuckeyeNation crunched the numbers and came up with possibly six spots remaining to round things out.

There are ESPN 150 and ESPN 300 athletes strewn throughout the list. If Ohio State is looking to move up in the class rankings, it will need to sign a majority of them. That will leave a few good athletes on the outside looking in.

On Tuesday, we’ll look at those who just missed, but for now we’ll run down who BuckeyeNation thinks rounds out the class of 2013.

1. Shelton Gibson (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights): The 5-foot-11, 173-pound ESPN 300 wide receiver has Ohio State way out in front on his list of favorites. He’s worked hard to get things together in all aspects of his game on and off the field. The second the Buckeyes say yes to Gibson, he’s a Buckeye.

2. Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian): The 6-4, 216-pound ESPN 150 outside linebacker keeps putting Ohio State at the top of his list despite never seeing Columbus. The feeling here is the sooner they can get the SPARQ national champion on campus the better. He’s becoming a hotter commodity every day.

3. Vonn Bell (Rossville, Ga./Ridgeland): The best thing that can happen for the Buckeyes here would be a coaching change by the Volunteers. The 6-0, 190-pound ESPN 150 safety has kept Ohio State at the top with the Volunteers. The belief is he’s a Buckeye. Should Derek Dooley get ousted from Tennessee, it should be a virtual lock.

4. Skai Moore (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./University School): An undefeated Ohio State season could go a long way with recruits, especially Moore, who will see the Buckeyes in back-to-back weeks. He’s scheduled an official visit at Camp Randall Stadium on Nov. 17 and The Horseshoe Nov. 24. Right now, it’s between Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Wisconsin and Ohio State.

5. Dorian Johnson (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon): The No. 2 offensive tackle and 6-6, 285-pound ESPN 150 senior has it down to Ohio State and Pitt with Virginia Tech a dark horse. However, Johnson has two more visits to the Buckeyes lined up and just one with the Panthers. If the atmosphere for the Michigan game is anything like it was when he was in Columbus for Nebraska, he’s a Buckeye.

6. Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights): The 6-3, 280-pound ESPN 300 defensive tackle has had a tough time trimming his list of dance partners. The big thing in Ohio State’s favor is he’s the one they really want and they haven’t made it a secret. Urban Meyer’s key to success has been with a strong D-line. Expect the Buckeyes to grab him.
