The 6-foot-5, 198-pound Kief visited Alabama last weekend, the second time he had a chance to check out the Crimson Tide.
He brought his family with him at the time and posted pictures on the website derekkief.com.
Before the visit to Alabama, Kief told ESPN Midwest Recruiting Coordinator Jared Shanker that Ohio State was “definitely in my tops, my high tops. I just want to finish the process and go take the rest of my visits, but they’re in good shape.”
He visited Kentucky back in February, calling the trip “the Ohio Invasion of the #BBN.”
Kief’s announcement will happen between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. ET on Father’s Day.
He is coming off a junior season when he logged 65 receptions for 907 yards and scored nine touchdowns in 10 games.
Kief was on hand in Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium in April for Ohio State’s spring game.
Here’s what he had to say about each school:
Alabama: “I don’t know the coaching staff at Alabama as well as some of the other schools, but I enjoyed my visit and really like the coaches a lot.”
Kentucky: “I am close with Coach [Vince] Marrow. They are recruiting extremely well in Ohio and big things are happening in Kentucky.”
Notre Dame: “I haven’t had much contact with the coaching staff, but their program is absolutely legendary.”
Northwestern: “Of my top five, they have been with me the longest and I respect Coach [Pat] Fitzgerald very much.”
Ohio State: “I talk with Coach [Kerry] Coombs and Coach [Urban] Meyer often and their program is one of the top programs in the nation.”
