OSU taps into Georgia again with offers
By Brad Bournival
Urban Meyer is at it again.
The two-time national champion knows where the talent is and he’s not afraid to tap into Georgia time and again.
Ohio State went back to the Peach State late Wednesday night with offers to safety Kirk Tucker (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) and his teammate linebacker Detric Dukes, a Louisville commit.
“At first I was confused because my coach said, ‘Man you just got offered by Ohio State,’” Tucker said. “At first I thought he said Iowa State and then I said, ‘You mean THE Ohio State.’ And he said, ‘Yes, sir.
“I was so happy and glad that I just gave him a hug. That’s a big offer in my eyes. I’m pretty sure it’s a big offer in most people’s eyes it is. Everyone knows about Ohio State.”
Now, the Buckeyes know about Tucker.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Tucker has been best friends with Dukes for awhile and the two talk recruiting all the time.
According to Tucker, plans are already in the works to visit Ohio State this summer along with another teammate, Ohio State target and ESPN 150 defensive tackle Elisha Shaw.
“So far I know it’s pretty cold up there,” Tucker said. “But I’m expecting to see great facilities, a great campus and a great fanbase.
“When we step off the plane I expect to see everyone in football gear. I know Ohio State has some great fans. I plan to see Ohio State all over, on the billboards, everywhere. The fan base, the coaching staff and the education is a real big factor for me.”
Tucker and Dukes become the 21st and 22nd Georgians offered by Meyer in the Class of 2014.
While it comes as surprise to some, the players in Georgia aren’t shocked at all.
“That’s easy,” Tucker said. “We produce the best players. People put Texas in there and Florida, but we play hard and fast and it really shows.
