Ohio State 2014 Outlook: Top 5 ATHs
By Brad Bournival
As the 2014 recruiting class comes into focus, BuckeyeNation will take a position-by-position look at the juniors.
Today, we examine the athlete position. Though it’s a position of strength for Ohio State with ESPN 150 seniors Jalin Marshall (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) and Dontre Wilson (DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto) joining the mix, Urban Meyer is always looking for mismatches in his fast break offense.
Here are the top athletes of 2014 not committed somewhere else and with an offer from Ohio State. All five are ESPN 150 selections.
It should be noted, Jabrill Peppers (Paramus, N.J./Paramus Catholic) used to be on this list, but he has since been classified as a cornerback.
Speedy Noil was initially intrigued by Ohio State but seems to have narrowed his choices down to LSU and Texas A&M.
Outlook: When the 6-foot, 176-pound Noil first picked up his offer from Ohio State, he sounded excited to see the campus. That has cooled considerably and he appears to a LSU lean. The only other team really in the running is Texas A&M, where teammate Noel Ellis signed in February.
Outlook: The next time the 6-foot, 178-pound Lattimore visits Ohio State he’ll have to start counting on his other hand. While trips to Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee and USC are in the works, BuckeyeNation thinks he'll end up in Columbus.
Offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, West Virginia
Outlook: He’s a southern sensation and has Alabama, Florida, Florida State and South Carolina in the mix. The 5-10, 169-pound Lammons won’t go to any of those, as our gut says he’s headed to Miami (Fla.)
