Ohio State outlook: Top 5 OTs in 2014

By Brad Bournival

As the 2014 recruiting class comes more into focus following what was yet another strong national signing day for Urban Meyer, BuckeyeNation will take a position-by-position look at the juniors.

Today, we examine the offensive tackles. It’s definitely a position of need and one of interest as Ohio State looks to strengthen the line.

Here are the top five tackles of 2014 not committed somewhere else and with an offer from Ohio State. Three are ESPN Watch List recruits, while the other two are huge junior college prospects.

1. Damian Prince (Forestville, Md./Bishop McNamara)

Offers: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Buffalo, Clemson, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Houston, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas Tech, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Washington, West Virginia

Outlook: A matchup nightmare at 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds. He has over 30 offers, but Prince does have some serious interest in the Buckeyes. This one will be interesting to watch play out.

2. Quenton Nelson (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank)

Offers: Alabama, Boston College, California, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Old Dominion, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Stanford, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, UCF, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin

Outlook: The 6-5, 285-pound Nelson was high on the Buckeyes after his visit last month. His top five -- in order -- are Notre Dame, Ohio State, Rutgers, Boston College and Penn State. With the Fighting Irish nabbing Sam Mustipher (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) this week, it will be interesting to see if that order changes in the coming months.

Jamarco Jones
Don't be surprised if Jamarco Jones becomes a Buckeyes commit rather soon.
3. Jamarco Jones (Chicago/De La Salle)

Offers: Arizona State, Arkansas, California, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Purdue, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Toledo, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wisconsin

Outlook: Jones has been high on the Buckeyes since they offered in June. The 6-5, 285-pound Jones has made trips to Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin recently, but we expect him to be an Ohio State commitment sooner rather than later.

4. Chad Mavety (Garden City, N.Y./Nassau Community College)

Offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Connecticut, Florida State, Kansas, Kansas, State, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC, Virginia Tech

Outlook: Offensive line coach Ed Warinner is headed out to see the 6-6, 320-pound Mavety on Thursday and the junior college standout is planning a July visit. The biggest obstacle in landing Mavety could be a fight with Alabama.

5. Jermaine Eluemunor (Rockaway, N.J./Lackawanna College)

Offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, East Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Florida, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UCLA, USC, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin

Outlook: The 6-5, 300-pound Eluemunor has a visit set up for May with the Buckeyes and has already inked an official visit in November to Ohio State. It’s definitely a two-way attraction between the Buckeyes and junior college prospect.
