One ESPN Watch List tight end will wait until the Michigan game to see Ohio State play, while another is taking in this weekend’s contest against Illinois.
That Blazevich should be here this weekend is a big deal, as he already has 19 Division I offers on his plate. The list includes Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound junior has already taken visits to Alabama, Georgia and LSU this season, and he continues to be one of the most sought after tight ends in the nation.
Barrett’s OK: J.T. Barrett (Wichita Falls, Texas/Rider) is out of surgery and is already beginning the rehab process. The ESPN 300 quarterback had to go under the knife after recently tearing the ACL and meniscus in his right knee. Ohio State is holding up its end of the bargain with a scholarship offer, as the 6-1, 205-pound Barrett readies for his next live action, which should come at The Horseshoe.
Considering Conley: The belief is ESPN 150 cornerback Gareon Conley (Massillon, Ohio/Washington) might decommit from Michigan if it comes down to a choice between being able to take visits to Ohio State and Oregon or not. The Buckeyes have offered Conley as an athlete, and he can play both wide receiver and in the secondary.
Ohio State shouldn’t think Conley is a lock by any stretch of the imagination, however. Conley told BuckeyeNation earlier in the season that Oregon is his favorite school. If the 6-1, 165-pound Conley gets an offer from the Ducks, it’s likely he’ll end up there.
Peppers' preferred five: In case anyone missed, ESPN Watch List cornerback Jabrill Peppers (Paramus, N.J./Paramus Catholic) broke down his top five for ESPN.com's Midwest recruiting analyst Jared Shanker in order, with Stanford, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State making the cut. He said he will hold out until he’s absolutely ready, which means the Buckeyes can definitely move up the ranks.
Skai’s coming: Skai Moore (Fort Lauderdale/University) has tried to get to Ohio State on more than one occasion. Now, it appears a lock as the outside linebacker is planning an official visit for the Michigan weekend along with many other high-priority prospects from the Class of 2013.
Where we're headed: Two of the hottest Ohio State targets face off Friday when Dorian Johnson (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) and Robert Foster (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) play each other in a WPIAL first-round playoff game. Foster won’t be in action, however, as he has been suspended for one game following two personal foul penalties called against him last week. Regardless, we’ll catch up with both ESPN 150 targets.
Saturday, it’s off to Byers Field again in Parma, Ohio, to see reigning Division I state champion St. Ignatius (9-1) take on Austintown Fitch (9-1). St. Ignatius is led by Ohio State target Jimmy Byrne and Division I recruit Dameon Willis Jr. Fitch has Buckeyes commit Billy Price, who heads a Falcons squad that has held seven opponents to 7 points or fewer this season.
BuckeyeNation is also trying to get to another game Saturday. It will most likely be in Columbus.
