This past Friday, Ian Bunting (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) received a huge stack of letters from colleges. Among them was Ohio State, and Bunting made the Buckeyes’ efforts worth it with a visit to Saturday’s game.
“It was awesome,” he said. “Definitely out of all the schools I’ve been to so far it was the loudest and most energetic stadium.”
Bunting was one of the first recruits at the football complex and went with teammate and fellow 2014 recruit Brian Allen. The two toured the football offices before meeting with the staff.
They headed to the stadium to see the team arrive and took some pictures around the stadium.
Bunting spoke with Chicago-area recruiter Mike Vrabel before the game, who let him know the Buckeyes were watching him. He also told Bunting to take his time recovering from a hairline fracture in his ankle.
“He was just saying to keep gaining weight and stuff, make sure not to come back early,” the 6-foot-6, 194-pound 2014 tight end said.
A Florida native, Bunting grew up a Gator fan during Urban Meyer’s tenure in Gainesville.
Purdue is Bunting’s first and only offer, and he will visit Purdue in November. He will make it to Iowa and Wisconsin later this month with Allen.
