Ohio State landed its first wide receiver of the 2013 recruiting class in 5-foot-10, 165-pound Taivon Jacobs (Forestville, Md./Suitland), a good fit as a speed receiver (4.35 seconds in the 40-yard dash). He also shows ability on special teams, as his 10-minute highlight video shows him scoring just about every way imaginable.
With Jacobs and athlete Jalin Marshall (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown), who will most likely switch to wide receiver, in the fold, the Buckeyes might snap up one more 2013 prospect at the position. A look at three other potential wide receivers for this class:
1. Robert Foster (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley): At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Foster could become a go-to receiver almost immediately. Ranked No. 23 in the ESPN 150, he has interest in the Buckeyes.
2. James Quick (Louisville, Ky./Trinity): At 6-foot and 180 pounds, Quick also looks like a great fit for the wide receiver role Meyer looks for. The 58th-ranked Quick's interest in Ohio State hasn’t cooled despite Jacobs’ commitment on Thursday.
3. Shelton Gibson (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights): His former high school teammate is 2012 Ohio State recruit Kyle Dodson, so that’s a plus. Gibson, ranked No. 194, is Ohio’s highest-ranked player without a commitment.
