There’s no rest for the wicked, especially when it comes to recruiting.
Ohio State wrapped up an incredible 2013 recruiting class -- ranked No. 3 by RecruitingNation -- on Wednesday, and now the Buckeyes will turn the page to 2014 this weekend for a junior day.
With that in mind, here are five players Ohio State is targeting next year who will get the Buckeyes’ full-court press:
OT Orlando Brown Jr.
Duluth (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge
The son of late NFL offensive tackle Orlando Brown, this Watch List junior doesn’t go a day without getting another offer or having some school show interest. The 6-foot-8, 345-pound lineman has 37 offers, including one from Iowa, which may have an advantage because Brown's father worked with Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz in the NFL.
ILB Raekwon McMillan
Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County
Ohio State might have nabbed two ESPN 150 linebackers in 2013, but the 2014 class’ strength is at linebacker, and McMillan could be the best of the best. The Watch List junior has the Buckeyes out front and has offers from no fewer than 23 schools.
OLB Clifton Garrett
Plainfield (Ill.) South
If McMillan is linebacker 1A, Garrett is linebacker 1B. Garrett has Ohio State in the mix every time he talks about schools that catch his eye. With 13 offers already out there, there are plenty trying to get noticed. Every time the Watch List junior steps foot on the field in a camp, fans rave.
CB Jabrill Peppers
Paramus (N.J.) Catholic
Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and USC -- name the school and the Watch List junior has an offer from them. While the secondary isn’t primary in this class for the Buckeyes, Peppers is a lockdown cornerback who can do it all.
QB DeShaun Watson
He’s the only quarterback the Buckeyes have offered. Watson threw for 4,024 yards and 50 touchdowns last season. Read that again: 4,024 yards and 50 touchdowns. There’s no doubt this Watch List junior is coveted by 15 colleges.
