Three-star LB comes on as commit No. 22
Three-star Christopher Worley (Cleveland/Glenville) became the 20th Tarblooder since 2002 to commit to Ohio State.
Long thought to be a Buckeyes lean, Worley made things official Friday on the first day of his official visit and became the 22nd Ohio State pledge in the class of 2013.
While he is the first Glenville product to commit to Ohio State this year, he joins offensive tackle Marcelys Jones after the junior committed to the Buckeyes on Christmas Day.
Worley had offers from Arkansas, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. In the end, however, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Worley, who also saw time at safety this season, took one official visit and that was to Columbus this weekend.
Worley joins ESPN 150 linebackers Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) and Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) in the class.
It also solidifies what once was thought to be a suspect unit in the class of 2013 and gives the Buckeyes a solid force at the position it so desperately needed.
Known as the defensive leader for the Tarblooders last season, Worley led Glenville to an 8-2 mark. The squad missed the playoffs largely due to the fact that Division I, Region 1 in Ohio is considered to be one of the strongest regions in the state.
As a senior, Worley had five interceptions and returned two of those picks for touchdowns. He also had 89 tackles, nine sacks and eight quarterback hurries.
