It looks as if Ohio State hasn’t given up in finding an offensive lineman to round out its 2013 recruiting class.
The Buckeyes are working hard on getting at least one more big man in the class.
Hunt broke down a top four of California, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon at the Under Armour Game last weekend.
Hunt, who is committed to Cal, has an official visit lined up with Michigan this weekend and Oregon next weekend. With an offer from the Buckeyes, the ESPN 300 tackle is hoping to shore up an official visit at Ohio State on one of the last two weekends before national signing day.
Skipper’s month is a little busier. The Tennessee commit has Arkansas up on Jan. 17, Ohio State on Jan. 19 and then will head to Ole Miss on Jan. 25 to make sure the Volunteers are the right choice for him.
Skipper’s top five are Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
Come and visit: Along with the well-documented official visits of Shelton Gibson, Marcus Baugh, Cornelius Elder, Christopher Worley, Ryan Timmons, Jalin Marshall, Vonn Bell and Joey Bosa there are some big name juniors coming this weekend as well.
On tap to take unofficial visits are Damon Webb (Detroit/Cass Tech), Marshon Lattimore (Cleveland/Glenville), Erick Smith (Cleveland/Glenville), Daniel Cage (Cincinnati/Winton Woods) and Kyle Berger (Cleveland/St. Ignatius) as well as Buckeyes commit Marcelys Jones (Cleveland/Glenville).
It should be noted that Lattimore and Smith’s visits aren’t set in stone at this point.
In the swim: Todd Kelly Jr. (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) broke out his top 10 and the ESPN Watch List safety and put the Buckeyes in the mix along with Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Notre Dame, USC, Stanford, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
In the swim, but not really: ESPN 150 linebacker Quinton Powell (Daytona Beach, Fla./Mainland) released a top five of Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina and USC.
Don’t get too excited, however, as Powell doesn’t currently have an offer from the Buckeyes.
Full February: The second month of the year might be the shortest month of the year, but it won’t be slow for Ohio State.
The weekend of Feb. 2 starts with the Buckeyes keeping things open for any last-minute official visits with Feb. 6 as national signing day.
Many top juniors -- including several of the 14 offered Georgia recruits -- will be on campus the following weekend.
Then it’s on to Massillon, Ohio, for the Nike SPARQ combine on Feb. 16, though NCAA regulations don’t allow coaches to look in on the event.
Sweet six: It’s not much of a secret, but Ohio State already has cornerbacks Eli Apple and Cam Burrows in class and enrolled already. Other early enrollees include quarterback J.T. Barrett, defensive end/linebacker Tyquan Lewis and defensive tackle Tracy Sprinkle.
The name that keeps getting left off, however, is William Houston. The second-ranked fullback in the nation, Houston has enrolled and has preferred walk-on status with the Buckeyes.
