Clifton Garrett’s interest in Ohio State remains strong.
Already an unofficial visitor in July for the Buckeyes’ Friday Night Lights -- Garrett (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) watched the camp from the stands -- and in November for the Michigan game, he’ll be in Columbus, Ohio, again on Feb. 2.
The ESPN Watch List junior was impressed with the Buckeyes after Ohio State’s 26-21 win over Michigan.
“[Urban Meyer] wants to get this train rolling, making it clear he wants me to come down and be a Buckeye,” Garrett said after the Ohio State win. “He said I’m not going to be on the bench, I’m going to be playing. He likes me a lot and likes my family and wants me to play freshman year.”
Garrett recorded 117 tackles -- 11 for loss -- three sacks, two forced fumbles and added an interception to go with five touchdowns this season.
As a sophomore, he registered 78½ tackles – five for loss – three sacks, three forced fumbles and added an interception.
Garrett has offers from Arizona State, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Purdue and Wisconsin. He has interest from Iowa, Michigan, Penn State and West Virginia.
The 6-foot-2, 218-pound inside linebacker has not broken down a list of his top schools yet.
