Snodgrass, Price ecstatic over OSU win

10/21/2012

Thaddeus Snodgrass (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) has seen it before. Billy Price (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) has grown accustomed to it as well. But Ohio State’s 29-22 overtime win over Purdue was special to each one as they took in Saturday’s game on unofficial visits.

Snodgrass has an offer from the Buckeyes. Price will be on the Ohio State roster next fall. Both left smiling after the team’s latest escape from certain defeat.

“I’d rank it a 12 out of 10 because they kept fighting back and kept that fire to bring them back,” said Snodgrass, who was also on hand for Ohio State’s 35-28 win over Cal.

What impressed Price was Kenny Guiton leading Ohio State 61 yards in the last minute of regulation and converting a two-point conversion to bring the Buckeyes back against the Boilermakers and send things to overtime. After that, it was just a matter of an Ohio State touchdown and defensive stop to end things.

And while Price still lists the Nebraska game as his best Buckeyes experience to date, he did walk away impressed.

“It’s nice to see Kenny Guiton still be able to lead the offense and give them a chance to win the game,” Price said. “I have to give him props for that. You have to have confidence in the Buckeyes.”

What the defensive tackle took out of it even more was Ohio State grabbing yet another win when the cards were against them. Now, the Buckeyes hope to close out the season undefeated with Penn State, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan still left on the schedule.

“The Big Ten schedule is crazy; you have quality opponents,” Price said. “Victories over Nebraska, victories over Purdue and Indiana, the games are close, but the Buckeyes are coming out on top.

“You see them getting better. They’re stepping up to the plate where we can handle the upper-echelon teams like that school up north, Wisconsin and Penn State.”
