Tyquan Lewis’ commitment to Ohio State came with a big thumbs up from one of the top defensive tackles in Northeast Ohio.
“That was a big commitment,” Sprinkle said. “I’ve played with him before. He’s a great guy. He should help us out a lot.”
Lewis will likely play the hybrid defensive end/linebacker role for the Buckeyes and that has Sprinkle dreaming big as he might wind up playing next to Ohio State’s latest commit.
Sprinkle saw what Lewis could do firsthand at the Senior Advanced Camp in Columbus on June 10.
“He was a great player,” Sprinkle said. “He’ll be great for the viper position. He’s got SEC speed. It should be fun. It’ll be great. We should play well together.”
If the two continue what they’ve been doing, the Buckeyes will be solid on the defensive front.
Sprinkle enters next week’s play with 47 tackles and 11 sacks. Last week, he had 14 tackles -- three for loss -- two sacks and six quarterback pressures in a 62-55 loss to North Royalton.
Lewis amassed 63 tackles and 12 sacks as a junior.
