Two weeks ago, he made 15 tackles on defense. Friday, he ran the ball 15 times for 128 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 41-21 win over Bedford. He’s now scored five touchdowns in two starts.
His name is Marcus Bagley and Cleveland Heights (Ohio) coach Jeff Rotsky swears he’ll be the next big thing for the Tigers.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Bagley is being recruited as a running back, but could easily morph into a strong safety at the next level.
“By the time his junior season tape gets out, the world will be looking at him,” Rotsky said.
For now, Alabama, Bowling Green, Iowa, Michigan State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Toledo and Youngstown State have thrown their hat in the ring in the interest pool.
“I’m trying not to pay attention,” the humble Bagley said. “If they talk to me, they talk to me. It’s a great honor and it’s great to have them look at me. It drives me to keep playing like I’m playing.”
“I try not to look at the attention as much,” Bagley said. “I don’t want to get a big head. I try to ignore it. I’ve played real well, but I have to give credit to the line. They’re why I’m doing so well.”
