With 30 offers from Division I programs, it might be difficult for Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) to keep them all straight.
There is one constant, however, for the 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive tackle as he slices the list down to just five.
Munger doesn’t know what those five will be, but he knows there’s one that will get a visit and will be on his final list: Ohio State.
“Yes, they’re going to be on the list,” Munger said before Shaker Heights’ Week 1 game with Solon. “Being in Ohio, you always have to look at your native school and everything.
“I just have to look at the new staff. I watched "Training Days" on ESPN. They were out having fun. [Ohio State] will be there.”
As for the rest, he’s still not sure. Michigan State, Tennessee, Auburn, Illinois, Indiana and Pitt have offered, but he’s not ready to cut anything down.
“Right now, it’s just focusing on each game,” Munger said. “I’m just focusing on my teammates. I’ve been with them most of the summer just trying to get ready for [the high school season]. That’s what I want to prepare for.”
No dates have been set for official visits, but those visits will fill up quickly as Munger doesn't want to wait until national signing day to get things done.
In fact, if it turns Jan. 1 and he still hasn’t decided, even he will be surprised.
“I’m thinking midseason, or toward the end,” Munger said. “I don’t want to wait. I don’t want to make a show about it. I just want to make sure I’m really 100 percent sure, 100 percent legit that I want to go to that school.”
